“When you face two options and each seems to please God, consider the one that displays God’s glory, power and strength. This makes room for God to reveal Himself to you and show Himself through you. Don’t be fearful about the hard road He may ask you to take, He desires to show Himself strong in you and will encourage you to do things that require trust and faith.“ – Priscilla Shirer.
Have you ever read something and felt like it was written just for you? That’s how I felt this previous Saturday as I read this quote by one of my heroes in the faith, Priscilla Shirer.
I was in this position a few weeks ago. I was in a place where I had to make a decision on what I will be doing next year. The options in front of me were both amazing in their own right and very different all at the same time. Option A – continuing on what I was doing this year, which would be a very smart choice as I know people who have walked in the same route and are doing some amazing things for God through it. Or Option B, a step of faith in a direction that I am passionate about but also a good example of the “unknown” as I don’t know many people personally who have walked in this same direction.
If I can be 100% honest, I felt God pull me towards Option B but I made a big mistake of letting fear creep in. Which led me into a spiral of confusion and anxiety just because I wasn’t willing to accept what God was saying to me as the truth. I initially didn’t think I was “ready” or “good enough” to step into what He was saying to me and a part of that was because I was looking at my current weakness’s instead of looking at God’s strength which becomes perfect in my weakness.
But just like Priscilla mentions, “God desires to show Himself strong in you and will encourage you to do things that require trust and faith.” I’ve seen this statement become truth in my life in the past few weeks as I (finally) chose to trust in Him. And in return I’ve witnessed God open some incredible doors that will help propel what He wants me to do next year. These are doors I could never have opened in my own strength (if you follow my journey you’ll see what I mean in early 2017), so I now have confidence I chose the right option!
If you’re ever in a similar position, ask God what He wants you to do and regardless of what you may see around you, don’t do what I did and doubt His word. Hold on to His word and trust that He will “reveal Himself to you and show Himself through you.”
